Writing a dissertation is a demanding task nevertheless, a lot of students fall at the very last hurdle: submitting it physically. In 2025, almost 40% of all submitted papers were either partially rejected or completely turned down, not because of their content but because of such technical problems as, for example, poor gutter margins or fonts that are not embedded, which only become visible when the dissertation binding. The errors caused by the formatting "ghosts" can make the text disappear in the spine or the image blur. Knowledge of these requirements, which are specific to printing, very early on will make sure that your labor will be rewarded with a spot on the library shelf.
